How we got here…
Mr. E.W.E Naylor, Daniel’s great-grandfather was the Low Level station master at Wolverhampton station during WWII.
Meat rationing was still at its height and E.W.E recognised that he was in a prime position to obtain non rationed rabbit meat from the smaller Islands of the UK, as the mainland rabbit population was plagued with myxomatosis and not fit for human consumption. So, E.W.E set up his supply chain with island farmers who despatched rabbits to Wolverhampton Low Level station by train. E.W.E then set up a chain of grocery shops locally to prepare and sell the non rationed rabbit meat which was so popular. Along with rabbit meat, E.W.E also realised that mushrooms were fast growing and popular in the shop but he needed a building to grow them in.
He attended a ministry of defence auction and purchased a brand new Nissen hut all packed up as MOD surplus. Erected it himself in his garden to grow mushrooms.
A few days later his neighbour asked him about the building and where he could get one from. He thought quickly told him he could supply one for him and a deal was struck starting what is now 4 generations of Naylor’s in the building and construction industry.
In the following years the construction side of the family business grew buying dozens of MOD ex government surplus buildings and re selling them. Whole camps of Romney, Nissen and timber buildings were dismantled and relocated at home and overseas. Hundreds of buildings, frames re-painted, new bolts and fixings and new cladding.
In 1967 the demand was still high but MOD stocks had diminished and he had by then 2 sons, Ernest and Neville who set up and built a new production factory in Darlaston, West Midlands, to produce Romney and Nissen buildings in large numbers. Production diversified to cover a broader range of buildings such as portal framed, bespoke structural steelwork, lattice beams and all associated pre-fabricated work.
Ernest also had two sons who both grew up observing the building industry and helping out as children. As soon as they left school both Jon & David inevitably joined the business. The company then expanded to carry out work on some of the most prestigious contracts in the UK and overseas. Jon & David’s depth of knowledge and experience grew over the years and they eventually took the reins from their father. David then had a son of his own, Daniel. He gained most of his construction knowledge from his father & uncle and after spending much of his childhood learning to fabricate and operating heavy plant & machinery. Nowadays, Daniel is the owner & Director of Worldwide Buildings.
Today, Daniel along with David & Jon and their highly valued team, offer the full depth of their experience to help their customers transform their ideas into realities with care and precision.. From a basic concept to schematic drawings, planning, building regulations and total build.
